This is an extremely varied collection, ranging from a series of klezmer melodies to the atonal weirdness of Varèse's Density 21.5 (which Eugenia Zukerman makes quite lyrical). Highlights along the way include familiar pieces by Debussy and Honegger, and an oddly amusing set by Bennett called Six Tunes for the Instruction of Singing-birds (something actually attempted during the Renaissance!) Katherine Hoover's heart-stoppingly beautiful Kokopeli is enough reason to buy the disc, as is herReflections. Not all the performances are prime, but if the flute appeals to you, here is a unique collection of flute and nothing else.
